Bike Ride & Burger Bar
We are starting to think that the sun doesn’t shine here in Chi-town! The hazy horizon didn’t make the city as photogenic as usual, but the overcast skies did provide a comfortable temperature for biking! Russ, my sister (Krista), and I throughly enjoyed a 12-mile bike ride along the Lake Shore Drive trail. It was great having my sister as our own personal guide to the buildings and sites of the city. We passed Soldier Field, The Field Museum, Adler Planterium, Shedd Aquarium, Buckingham Fountain, and the Navy Pier all while enjoying views of beautiful Lake Michigan.
Russ and I decided that if living in our RV doesn’t work out, we now know we could live in the smallest studio available in a high-rise apartment or condo in the city of our choosing (with a great view, of course). Now we might not be able to afford said apartment or condo, but no need to get into all the details, right? It would be awesome to have such a wonderful bike/walking trail right outside your front door and be able to walk to just about everything. The City of Chicago has done a wonderful job in providing a waterfront park system that is free & clear to the public. Bravo, Chicago! Make sure to enjoy a bike ride or afternoon walk on the Lakeshore Trail anytime you visit the city - the hustle and bustle of city life on one side of the trail balanced with the peace and serenity of green space and flowing water on the other. FYI - I’m sharing these pictures, but they most certainly don’t do our bike ride justice! We had a great time with you today, Sis!
After finishing up the bike ride, it was time to refuel. The three of us met Jim & Ben at the Burger Bar for some grub. It’s safe to say that we all enjoyed our meals, as there were only scraps left as our waiter cleared our table. However after an appetizer of fried pickles, all my opinions are skewed. I definitely love me some pickles and fried pickles just take it up a notch. If you noshing for a good burger, check out the Burger Bar Chicago for fun and interesting burger combination. Next time, sweet potato tots will most likely grace my plate. So if you get a chance to sample them before me, let me know what you think!
We said our goodbyes and gave hugs to my sister, Jim, and Ben. Fun times were had by all! My sister said we were the first people to every bring there “home” with them to visit her in Chicago! #wetakeourhomeeverywhere
