2017 Campground Review - Moyer's Grove Campground copy.jpg

Moyer’s Grove Campground is like many Pennsylvania campgrounds that have been around for ages. This part of the country has been around for quite some time, so it is not surprising that the campgrounds are old too! They are beginning to show their age and many of their sites can’t accommodate the bigger rigs they are making these days. That bigger is better mantra took over I suppose and we are guilty as charged. Anyway, back to our campground review. When we arrived, we were greeted in the office by two ladies who helped get us checked in and lead us to our site. The site was in a large field near their pool and pavilion. It provided us with just what we were looking for - a quick in and out and power to keep our fridge running while we were away. Since we stayed with family about 2 hours South, we only spent one night at the campground.

While we were hoping for a campground close to I-80, the drive from the highway to Moyer’s Grove Campground was not the type of driving we prefer. We were on some narrow back roads where we just had to be a little more cautious due to all the curves in the road. It was only about 8 miles, but a little further off the path than we would have preferred. Once we did arrive at the campground, Charlie got to do something he has never done before - go under a covered bridge! Kinda cool entry to a campground, don’t ya think?!

The campground appeared to have mostly seasonal campers who spend weekends or summers at the park. It is open year around, so I assume there are some people there in the winter months too. It is a heavily wooded park which is great for shade, but not so good for large rigs to get around. The park seemed to have lots of activities on the weekend with lots of festive Halloween decorations during our stay. One of the things we took note of was that at all of their events they raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. They have raised almost $40,000 so far this year. Isn't that an impressive donation!? Keep it up Moyer’s Grove Campground.
