Wampler Family Visit

Wampler Family Visit

Over the course of the winter, after we finalized our plans to spend the Summer of 2017 in Bar Harbor, ME, we learned of several friends and family who were planning to visit us during our stay in Maine.  The same can be said for Annette and Mike, as well as Jay and Karen.  The first visitors to arrive in Maine were Annette and Mike’s daughter, Nicole, along with her husband Travis and their two children Aaron and Kylie.  We have camped with the Wamplers many times over the last couple of years, so it was nice to hear they were going to tow their trailer from New Oxford, PA to Trenton, ME and join us for a week.  The Wamplers arrived at Narrows Too on Saturday July 1st (Happy 14th Birthday Aaron!) after their two day drive with a one night stopover in Connecticut.  During their second day of travel they got to stop in Freeport, ME and visit the center of the L.L. Bean universe at their Flagship Store complex.

The Wamplers arrived to a site in the main part of the campground but still close to the seasonal sites, where we and the DeWalds had set up home.  On top of that they even had a nice water view from the front of their trailer.  Annette and Mike had arranged to get a couple of days off from work during the week so they could play host to the Wampler family and show them as much as they could squeeze into a weeks time.  They succeeded in hitting all of the high points during their stay; Cadillac Mountain, Ocean Path, Jordan Pond, the Sand Bar and Bar Island, and downtown Bar Harbor.  Their whole family enjoyed some good meals out in the area as well as some good food at the DeWald campsite.  Aaron learned that he now has a new favorite food, Lobstah!  The harsh reality will set in when he realizes that lobster in Pennsylvania is not as fresh or cheap as it is here in Maine.  Oh well, something mom and dad will have to explain to him.

Although Betsy and I did not get to do any “touristy” things with them during their stay, we certainly enjoyed several camp fires with them and loved being able to see them.  Annette and Mike really seemed to enjoy having their grandkids around for the week and sharing their Maine experience with them.
