Campground Review: Fredericksburg VA / Washington DC South KOA

Campground Review: Fredericksburg VA / Washington DC South KOA

As we continued to plan our travels North toward Philadelphia, the Fredericksburg VA / Washington DC South KOA come up in our search along the route. Being somewhat close (45-50 minutes) to Richmond was a bonus as we were planning a trip to visit Russ’ brother & sister-in-law during our short stay. While our stay was very pleasant, the campground wasn’t anything to write home about. Since this was a short stay for us, we would have preferred it being closer to I-95 for easy on/off access. While the Fredericksburg VA / Washington DC South KOA was only about 6 miles from the interstate, that was an additional 10 minute drive pulling our home down small, rural roads.

If you are truly looking for a campground in the Washington DC area, do your research. While the campground does offer some sort of transportation to the U.S. Capital City, it is over an hour’s drive and that’s without any traffic. Like that ever happens on that stretch of highway! For us the Fredericksburg VA / Washington DC South KOA was a decent stop for just a couple of nights, but we would most likely try another campground on our way through this area in the future.
