Back to the Buckeye State
After leaving Elkhart Campground, we jumped back on the Indiana Turnpike and headed back East. We have become super familiar with the PA/OH/IN turnpikes 76/80/90 with our trips back and forth. We have actually grown fond of them knowing there will be nice rest areas to stop at for either fuel or a lunch break. It’s especially easy when using the book The Next Exit. Highly recommend it as it includes the exit-by-exit listing of every since you may need on a road trip: food, fuel, lodging, camping, and shopping. You can know what is ahead before you actually get there and not fly by the sign for your favorite burger joint. Or say Starbucks, because who couldn’t use an Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew while traveling long distances? No more passing the exit, missing the gas station, or settling for a less than desirable hotel. If you ever road trip - this book is a MUST!
After a rather uneventful trip across a couple states, we arrived at Delaware State Park for Charlie’s first state park stay. When we arrived, the lovely lady at the park office told us to take a look around and let her know what site we would like. Russ hopped in the car and we took note of several sites that looked like winners! We were looking for a site with a clear view of the Southern sky as we were going to try to get our satellite up and running during our stay in Delaware. The sites are all very similar and many are super private with bunches of trees separating one site for the next. This is one of the parts that make state parks so desirable.
We got settled into our site as easy as 1-2-3 (that was our site number - hehe!). We then headed off to Waldo for dinner at my parents house. Thanks Mom & Dad the pizza (& gluten free pizza) was great!
The next day, Russ and I had some errands to run, including a drug test for our job with Amazon Camperforce that we will be starting at the end of the month. We will be back to work in only a few short weeks. Call me crazy, but I’m mildly excited about the whole Amazon thing. However that could change after the insanity of Black Friday & Cyber Monday break out in the warehouse. Laundry done. Prescriptions picked up. We had a successful morning. We ended the day getting treated dinner with my Mom & Dad as well as watching the Cleveland Indians winning the first game of the ALDS. Hey Dad, the ribs, cheesy potatoes, cornbread, & garlic green beans were really yummy. We are still enjoying those leftover tasty taters in our scrambled eggs in the mornings.
More fun to be had tomorrow….
