Campground Review: Hollywood Casino RV Park

Campground Review: Hollywood Casino RV Park

While Russ and I have always enjoyed visiting some of America’s big cities, now that we travel with our “home” in tow a visit takes a bit more planning. Upon looking for campgrounds near the Chicago area, we came across the Hollywood Casino RV Park. It was about 50 miles from downtown Chicago which ended up being the closest park we could find, other than boondocking (no hookups) in the McCormick Place Marshalling Yard. The Hollywood Casino RV Park ended up being a great

The sites have water and electric, but no onsite sewer. There is a dump station located behind the casino hotel. There is no cable TV, but most of the sites seem to be satellite friendly. There are bathroom/laundry facilities located in a building right at the entrance to the campgournd. Upon arrival, you do need to check-in at the hotel lobby as the RV park office is not manned. No real amenities, but the hotel breakfast is included with the price of the campground. This was a nice perk and was fairly decent for a hotel breakfast. There are both pull-through and back-in. The pull-through sites are fully paved and the back-in sites have 2 paved paths for the tires. All the sites appear to be very level. The casino has van service from the campground to the casino. The sites are fairly large with big grassy areas and picnic tables. No firepits. Not a great campground for kids as their are no activities or amenities. However, Hollywood Casino RV Park really is a great place to stay if you want to camp near Chicago and don’t mind a little bit of a drive to get in to the city.
