Campground Review: Summer Wind Overnight RV Park
When planing our trip to Ohio from Urbanna, Virginia, Russ located the general area that would be good for an overnight stop. After some quick work on Google Maps, he came across the perfect overnight campground. The Summer Wind RV Park is located right along Interstate 64. Almost all of the sites are pull-through and they make it clear that it is more than acceptable to stay hitched up to make it a quick in and out if desired! Several, but not all of the sites have 50 amp service. They don’t require reservations, but do recommend giving them a call before arriving just to make sure they can accommodate you for the evening. While there are no amenities, it is still a very well kept park and a perfect quick stop.
We arrived in time to enjoy an absolutely gorgeous sunset in the hills of West Virginia. It is located on a hill above a cattle farm. They even have a lovely little covered pavilion with two rocking chairs overlooking the farm land. It was a great way to wrap up a travel day.
If you are ever in the area, I highly recommend pulling in for the night! If you are an Escapees RV Club or Good Sam Club member, make sure to mention it as you get a discounted price. We’ll take it!
If you know of any of these overnight-style campgrounds along major interstates, we would love to know about them. It is a great alternative to a truck stop or Walmart parking lot. Maybe not quite as thrifty, but certainly very reasonable.
