Gibbons Family Vacation - St. Petersburg, FL
We feel slightly guilty for even calling the past week a vacation. Is it possible to take a vacation from this “vacation-like” lifestyle we have goingon right now? But we sure did kick into full-blown vacation relaxation mode without an ounce of hesitation.
- Beach Chairs✓
- Umbrella ✓
- Swimsuits & Beach Towels ✓
- Cooler with Icy Drinks ✓
- Book for Beach Reading ✓
- Sunscreen (lots and lots of sunscreen) ✓
Pretty sure we could empty the 5th wheel and replace all items with the six items above and I would still be one happy lady.
We checked into condo we were sharing with family on Saturday and settled in for a seriously relaxing week. We spent every day on the beach or poolside, or most often doing both. Can you say beach bums? Life is just better at the beach.
It was great to spend time with “the herd” – aka Russ’ family. We ate out a few nights at some yummy local restaurants, took a few bike rides, and got to spend lots of quality time with Jason & Christine who live in St. Petersburg! Marry that girl Jason; we just love her dearly!
While we were out and about one day (I know it is hard to believe we took our bums out of our beach chairs), we took a quick drive to Fort Desoto Campground. Talk about a slice of tropical life. We weren’t 100% sure we would be able to get our rig into the park, but they definitely have some long sites that we could sneak right into. The sites are all lined with tall palm trees that provide lots of privacy and a good amount of shade. About 75% of the sites are waterfront or have good water views. We will definitely add this Florida state park to our list of stops.
Don’t worry Sunshine State, we will be back soon…
