Friends, Family, Fun - For Everyone

In case you haven’t noticed, the world wide web and social media sites are currently inundated with all things fall or in reality mostly just pumpkin spice themed things. So in the spirit of the season, we decided to do something quintessentially fall with a trip to the Pumpkin Patch. We pulled into Lehner’s Pumpkin Farm literally right behind my parents - great timing or what? I say so. While the majority of the activities are kid-themed, it was still great to be outside and just breathe in the autumn air. We walked through the pumpkin patch with absolutely no plan on picking a pumpkin. I prefer my pumpkins to be already picked, close to checkout, and even closer to my car for easy pick up. Lazy much? Actually this year, I have my heart set on a white pumpkin for painting after having one a few years ago. We didn’t spot any so we were just walking around checking out all of the festivities going on at Lehner’s Pumpkin Farm this lovely October weekend.

Without further ado, let’s continue with the fall bucket list and head to the Apple Orchard. Does it get any more fall than pumpkins and apples? I think not. As soon as we got close to Lawrence Orchards, tons of great memories came to mind. I remember many fall trips with my Mom & Sister to Lawrence’s to stock up on apples, popcorn balls, and their incredible apple cider - it is still the BEST I have ever had. To be able to be back at Lawrence Orchards with my Mom & Dad this fall was a true blessing! A bushel of Melrose apples, a gallon of the above mentioned BEST apple cider, and some mulling spices and we were literally happy campers!

With the weather being just about perfect, we stopped by a new park in the area for a walk. Thanks mom for suggesting the park. We had a lovely walk through the leaf-covered paths enjoying the sights and sounds of the season. As Anne of Green Gables said, “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers!”

We stopped by Mom Wilson’s Country Sausage Mart which is a family-run (part of my Dad’s family actually) meat market located in Delaware Ohio. Russ had never been there, but had enjoyed many of their tasty products in the past. They offer a large selection of homemade and smoked meats. I can’t believe I put the bacon we bought in the freezer. What was I thinking? ----

----- Sorry just had to run and put it in the fridge to defrost. Hickory Smoked Bacon get in my belly for breakfast tomorrow. Yum-Yum! Our timing was perfect as we were able to visit with my Great Aunt Esther, Cousin Karen, and Cousin Sam which I hadn’t seen in ages. Great to catch up with them - we will keep you posted on our travels. On this visit, I learned something new - they ship their meats! So without a doubt check Mom Wilson's Country Sausage Mart out (you’ve got no excuse, unless your a vegetarian and even then their pickles and kraut will rock your socks off!).

Considering the day had been fabulous already it was hard to believe it could get any better; but it did just that! My Aunt Vick & Uncle Harry invited us over for a family get-together and make your own pizzas! Russ & I were able to catch up with my aunt, uncles, & cousins. Being able to spend time with them reminds us that this is exactly one of the many reasons we decided to embark on this journey - to be able to spend more time with friends & family. I definitely dropped the ball in not taking any photos, but trust me…. oh what a lovely evening it was.

We woke up Sunday and it was really chilly! Making it ironic that we had chili for dinner with our awesome friend Shannon. She stopped over to check out our “house” and catch up while we were in town. I’ve been jonesin’ to play a little volleyball all summer. So when one of my old high school passing partners was around, we couldn’t resist to urge to play a little pepper. Sometime we looked like we still “got it” and other times we looked like we belonged in the backyard of the nursing home. It’s give in take! We chatted & laughed while watching the Denver Broncos get pummeled in the Sunday Night Football game (hope your fantasy team recovered, Shanny). Thanks for coming for a visit - it is always SO GOOD to see you.
