Fun with Family & Friends
When we decided that traveling to Indiana was going to be on our agenda, it was a no-brainer that we would make a stop in Ohio. It had been a long time since we had been to the Buckeye state. We had a bit of trouble finding an available site at a campground, but we were able to find a site at Berkshire Lake Campground in Galena, OH about 40 minutes from my parent’s house in Waldo. Why yes, I did grown up and Waldo and have heard a ‘Where’s Waldo’ joke or two in my life. If you are curious, I can tell you exactly where it is as I spent the first 18 years of my life living there.
We spent time with my parents chatting, walking, dining, exploring, and even caught a movie this afternoon. We checked out a bunch of campgrounds that are a little closer to my parents and decided that Delaware State Park will most likely be our go-to in the future.
We hosted a cookout at the campground so that my family could take a tour of our new “home”. It was fabulous catching up with my Aunt Vick & Uncle Harry and my cousins Scott, Amy, and Elise! These meetups seem to be way too few and far between, so we were happy we were able to get together. My aunt and uncle were able to provide some insight into places we should make sure to get to and we will most certainly add them to our growing list of places to visit. Even in the midst of the chaos going on around us, our country provides such wonderful places to explore. We hope to always stop and smell the roses.
Our “reliable” vehicle caused us problems yet again. Seriously Pilot? - get your act together! We had already planned to pamper her with a new set of tires. Okay really I just couldn’t take the road noise anymore and she was due for some new shoes. However on our way to our tire appointment at Costco, the check emissions/engine light came on. Lovely! After a few calls around, we were able to get an appointment on Saturday to get it all checked out. Russ ended up spending nearly the whole day at the Honda dealer (8 AM - 4 PM), but luckily they got our old lady running smooth again.
Speaking of old ladies (not really, but a good lead-in)…… I got to see all my college roomies today! It was super awesome, that Megan happened to be visiting Ohio the same time Russ & I would be coming through. Amy had organized a little get-together of all six of us and we spent the day in her lovely backyard catching up, gossiping, laughing, and generally have a great old time. There is that word ‘old’ again. We tried to not think about how many years it had been since we last walked the streets of campus. What lovely memories we created back then and get to relive now! Thanks for coordinating the details and hosting us, Amy!
