Sumter Oaks RV Park
Since we were already in Sumter County, and it was still early afternoon, we decided to take a ride to Sumter Oaks RV Park. This is the Escapees park in Florida and our new “official” Florida address. When we arrived at the park, we found the camp host who was out working on his trailer behind the office. He was a very nice guy, and welcomed us to the park and gladly allowed us to drive through the park to look around. The park had both 50 amp and 30 amp sites. Being there in June, the park was probably less than 25% full. There was no pool at the park, but the sites appeared to be spacious, mostly shaded and not a bad place to visit if there is a need to be in the area. There was a permanent SmartWeigh site in the park. This is a worthwhile exercise if you are ever at an Escapees park, to have your entire rig weighed by wheel/axle.
While we wouldn't consider this park a resort, it certainly would be a doable place to park for a week or so at a really reasonable rate through Escapees.
