Campground Review: Pecan Park RV Resort

Campground Review: Pecan Park RV Resort

As we planned out our travels from South Florida to Easter in Philadelphia, Jacksonville ended up being a good stopping point on the journey North. It was a good short distance from our previous stop in Titusville and would provide an opportunity for a day trip to St. Augustine. We had planned to stay near St. Augustine, but had a bit of trouble finding a campground with availability. Next up, we came across Pecan Park RV Resort in Jacksonville and decided that would work as “home base” for some exploration around the area. Pecan Park RV Resort is located about 20 minutes North of downtown Jacksonville, 30 minutes from the beach, and an hour’s drive South will land you in St. Augustine.

Pecan Park RV Resort is conveniently located about a mile or so from I-95. All the sites at the park are paved, pull-thrus making it very big rig friendly. Most of the paved sites are wide allowing lots of paved space right outside the front door. We were able to park Charlie, the Big Tow’er, and our car all on the paved part of our site. We still had room for our picnic tables and gravity chairs. There was about 15 feet of grassy area separating our site from the next. However, there were very few trees to provide any shade.

The Jacksonville airport is close to the campground, so be prepared to hear loud jets overhead many times a day! We thought it was kind of cool to see them so close overhead, but I’m sure there are lots of people that would not enjoy all the noise they create.

There is a large flea market right next door the campground - Pecan Park Flea Market. It is a large flea market of over 700 storefronts offering a wide variety of antique & new wares. While flea markets aren’t 100% our thing, you never know what treasures you may find! Worth the casual browse during a stay at the campground, but remember it is only open on Saturdays & Sundays.

The campground was in the middle of a paving project during our stay, so there was a bit of a mess and some roads you had to avoid. However, it is definitely a nice improvement to have freshly-paved roads. We made sure they would have them ready for you before you arrived!
