Campground Review: Elkhart Campground
After picking up our new camper, “Charlie” we found Elkhart Campground to stay for a few nights to try out all the systems and be close by to Tiara RV Sales in case we needed any major repairs. The campground features mostly all pull-throughs with various levels of hookups. We opted for full-hookups with cable in order to be able to check out all the systems. We were a little pre-occupied with our camper so we didn’t spend much time checking out the campground. We also booked a site for 4 nights, but only spent 2 nights there as we had 2 days of work done at MORryde and spent the night over there in our camper. The campground did have a pool and some sports courts that were being enjoyed by some of the campers. The roads were all gravel which makes for a dusty mess, but the site had a gravel drive for the camper and the rest of the site was grass which kept our feet from getting all dusty (something that drives me nuts)! There were bathrooms and showers, but they are over by the pool area, so not convenient for campers needed to utilize those. I didn’t have a chance to check out the laundry facilities to be able to comment on that. We will most likely return to this campground in the future when we are back in the area for either maintenance or renovations we may have done in the future.
UPDATE - October 4: Charlie’s very first night with us was spent at Elkhart Campground. It seems like he has been with us for way longer than 2 1/2 months. We sure do love him - yes, he is an inanimate object, but he is our home and full of our memories! So give us a break!
The campground was still a great campground for those needing to be close to manufacturers for repair work. We were stopping in at Tiara RV (our dealer) to pick up a few missing parts for Charlie. Lots of big pull-thrus and easy in and out to the main drag and also close to the ramps for the Indiana Toll Road.
