On the Way to Cape May...

On the Way to Cape May...

We had a fantastic time in Ocean View, New Jersey. In our last post, Russ caught you all up on what we did so far at the shore. We had a super low key day on Friday with a nap, bike ride, trip to the grocery store, and waiting for some more family members to join us for the weekend. Saturday, the whole group of 12 hit the beach for what we called an “end of the summer” hurrah! However, Russ and I don’t plan on giving up on the summer mentality any time soon. There was lots of reading, wading, and sand digging going on, including Lucas taking one for the team and getting buried more than once by two eager littles (Ella & Tyce). We even made it back to the campground in time for the Ohio State game. Go Bucks! Hope we don’t lose any followers with that statement.

Are you ready for some football?? Sunday afternoon and evening was spent watching football. Yes, I’m a girl, but I love me some football. Being close to Philadelphia, we were able to watch the Eagles. Fly Eagles Fly. Again, hope we don’t lose any followers with that statement. With game after game, I tend to find some time to nap during the middle of the games. Perfect way to spend a day in the camper.

Monday, we decided it was time to get out and enjoy the area. While searching for things to do in the area, I stumbled across the Cape May County Zoo. It was only a 15 minute drive and the price was right, FREE! Sign me up. Annette & Mike joined us for the adventure. It was a lovely day and a really nice zoo. I was really impressed by the amount of animals considering the price of admission or lack there of, remember this attraction was FREE. Yes we really did see lions, tigers, and bears oh my! We would definitely recommend it if you are in the area. Check out these photos from our safari…

Next up, we decided to spend some time exploring Cape May. Russ played the part of chauffer and we got to enjoy the view through town and along Beach Avenue. The architecture is mesmerizing with the perfect combination of old victorian and modern contemporary all seaside! Next up, we parked and strolled down Washington Street checking out some cute shops and finishing up with some tasty treats - fudge & ice cream. Definitely a great ending to our time along the Jersey Shore.
