Catching Up with some Full-Time RVer Friends

It’s the friends you meet along the way, that help us appreciate the journey. Oh so true this is. We met Randy & Joanna at the RV-Dreams.com rally we attended in May 2015. Standing around the campfire, we found out that they were also from Pennsylvania. Not just any part of PA, but the next county over! Several times over the next year, we met for dinner to chat about all things full-time RV. It was wonderful to have friends to swap stories with and talk about set-backs, house showings, downsizing “stuff”, and all the legalities of getting ready to hit the road as a Full-Time RVers. We also got to celebrate the victories of the process. The “sold” signs, the truck videos, the RV customizations, and the gadgets purchased were frequently on our laundry list of topics. We would often spend just minutes eating and hours chatting. 

Randy & Joanna are HDT (heavy duty truck) owners just like us. Their truck, STORM is a beauty. Storm is the truck that brought us our first fifth wheel, Calvan, from Calgary, Alberta, Canada to its home in Pennsylvania. So fun to have friends whose departure timeline was so close to ours. We are part of what we call the “Class of 2016”. 

When we found out we were going to be so close in the month of January, a get-together was a must. With them in the Orlando area and us in the Tampa area, Joanna suggested Lakeland as a perfect mid-point for a dinner out.

We are known for having trouble focusing on the menu when there is so much catching up to do. Once we had the ordering out of the way, we spent the next few hours swapping stories about our travels, our repairs, our future calendar of events, and our favorite recipes. We had such fun meeting up with you guys and are hopeful for a chance to catch up again in Pennslyvania in April.
