Rx for a Smile - Beach Day
Yesterday we spent the day checking out the campground we where we arrived on Monday. Markham Park is located in Broward County and is a county operated park. It is a really great stop, making you feel like you are in a rural setting all while being about 15 minutes from almost anything you could desire. Plus with an address of Sunrise, it just naturally makes it a happy place. Our home was parked in Sunrise, FL - that just sounds good! We met another guy, Iggy, that also calls Sunrise, FL home. He seemed quite intrigued by our truck!
We also took a peek at the Everglades Wildlife Management area that is right across the canal from our campground. There is a large berm that surrounds that area and we were able to ride our bikes on the gravel path that runs along the top of the berm. We saw lots of birds and one tiny baby gator!
We have been looking forward to a beach day for quite some time. We have seen the ocean (Naples), been surrounded by the ocean (Florida Keys), walked in the ocean (Bahia Honda), watched the sunset over the ocean (Mallory Square), but we had neglected to spend a day on the beach doing beach things! You know things like watching the waves crash, reading, people watching, and sinking our tootsies in the sand. We packed up the beach chairs, umbrella, picnic lunch, and beach bag and headed for Fort Lauderdale Beach Park. After feeding the meter its parking fee ($1.50/hour - very reasonable considering its location), we headed toward the sound of the sea. It was an incredibly lovely day as we stayed tucked in the shade provided by our ever trusty beach umbrella. It was just the day we had been thinking about since our last relaxing beach day on Russ’ birthday in January. Ahhh!! Our new Tervis spoke the truth today & really everyday — “Today is a good day”!
However, this Tervis speaks truth too! You can buy one today (#adlink) ....
