Campground Review: Oak Plantation Campground
We initially chose Oak Plantation Campground because of its close proximity to Charleston. Knowing we wanted to make a day trip to Savannah, our goal was to stay on the south side of Charleston. Oak Plantation is located right along Highway 17 making it convenient to get to. However, this was also the campground’s biggest downfall. It was extremely hard to turn in and out of the campground due to heavy traffic along Highway 17. We were warmly welcomed and checked in upon our arrival.
The sites at Oak Plantation Campground were large. Most sites were grass pull-thrus with lengths of up to 100 feet. Some of the sites had gravel or paved pads.
While only 10 miles from downtown Charleston, the campground is nicely tucked off the road giving it a park-like setting. The big trees provide many sites with nice shade!
We definitely enjoyed our stay and would consider a return visit to Oak Plantation Campground next time we explore the Charleston area.
