Made With Love Not Gluten
I’m sure you have seen the special words “gluten-free” lurking around in quite of a few of our blog posts. I’m also about 100% positive that you have realized that we sure do love our food, especially checking out new and exciting cafes, coffee shops, and restaurants. So the fact that GLUTEN is Russ’ kryptonite sometimes gets in the way of our passion. In all realty, it actually just means we have to spend a little more time scoping out all the wonderful places we come across. It only took a few days after we landed in Elizabethtown to locate a little slice of gluten free heaven! (Okay, technically we didn’t land in Elizabethtown since we never left the ground because annoyingly I still don’t have my private jet! We need about three zillion more blog readers before that might happen).
On Saturday morning, we drove about 20 minutes to Mount Joy to check this gluten-free friendly bakery out - Made With Love Not Gluten. Russ was like a kid in a candy store, when he realized that everything in the bakery was up for grabs since it was an entirely gluten-free establishment. Hugs and kisses to the baker. With so many options, it was hard to pick what to get. So we opted to go a little crazy and ended up with a box full of the following goodies: Chocolate Donut, Cinnamon Coffee Cake, Cheddar & Garlic Scone, Everything Bagel, Sesame Seed Bagel, & a Peanut Butter Iced Brownie. We also snagged some Mac & Cheese and Pierogies from the freezer case which were a nice little bonus!
- Russ’ Favorite – Chocolate Cake Donut with Chocolate Frosting
- Betsy’s Favorite – Cinnamon Coffee Cake
However, the breakfast sandwich we made with the Everything Bagel may have topped the coffee cake for me. The best option would be to return and try them both again. It’s the only fair way to decide, don’t ya think?
UPDATE: We returned to Made with Love Not Gluten today before our planned departure from Elizabethtown on Monday. We learned our lesson by missing out on some of the sold out selections last time and had a stash of goodies set aside for pickup. They make it super easy to do this right from their website. Simply place a hold request from the menu options they have available that day. You can also place a special order, but be nice and let them know at least 7 days in advance. More notice if you are feeling really, really nice!
Today’s Loot included - Carrot Cake Cupcake, Cookies N’ Cream Cupcake, Cream Cheese Brownie, Cinnamon Rolls, Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars, Tandy Cake Slices. Don’t worry at least ½ of the goodies are headed straight to the freezer for delayed gluten-free gratification!
- Our Favorites from Trip #2 – Tandy Cake Slice with a close 2nd being the Cream Cheese Brownie so it would be best for you to get both. We don’t want to sway you the wrong way. Plus walking away with 2 sweet treats, rather than just one is always the right decision.
Gluten free or not, this place was a gem. Prices were very reasonable, especially considering they are offering a specialty product. Vegan options are also available.
It is going to be necessary for me to clean up the drool from my keyboard after the following scrumptious post.
